Héctor Jaraba - Staff Frontend Engineer

Staff Frontend Engineer
Valencia, Spain

Currently @New Work SE

Setting technical direction for frontend systems that help teams ship reliable, high-performance product experiences at scale.

Héctor Jaraba

Working remotely from Valencia, I set frontend technical direction across React and Vue systems, from performance optimisation to scalable microfrontend architecture. I partner with teams to make durable technical decisions and build products that scale.

With 10+ years of experience across startups and established companies, I improve developer experience, establish engineering practices, and help engineers grow across frontend communities.

WHO THE H*CK AM I?

ENGINEER SCUBA DIVER DESIGNER BARISTA MUSICIAN DOG DAD PROBLEM SOLVER GAMER TRAVELER

Outside of the serious engineering stuff, I'm basically a mix of curiosity, caffeine, and good vibes. I'm an advanced scuba diver who's happiest exploring reefs, wrecks, and any random fish (I love sharks). I've been lucky enough to travel and dive across most of Asia.

Héctor diving in Bali

I'm also a massive coffee nerd. I even took a barista course, which officially made my morning coffee ritual last way longer than it needs to (but at least it tastes amazing). When I'm not caffeinating or traveling, I'm probably playing games.

I'm a dog person. I have two doggies who act as my personal managers: they remind me when it's time for a walk, a snack, or a break from coding.

Héctor's dogs

My love for computers started early. My father repaired them, and I was obsessed with the whole process: the cables, the components, and the "don't touch that". So naturally, I touched everything.

AT 11 YEARS OLD

I got banned from every cybercafé in my neighborhood after writing a small C script that killed the timer process so me and my friends could play for free. A questionable business model, but great early indicators of a future in tech.

AT 16 YEARS OLD

I won a third prize at the Valencia Startup Weekend with an idea to help people with disabilities communicate using just one finger. That project stayed with me. It was the moment I realized tech could actually help people.

Valencia Startup Weekend

That project set the direction for everything that followed. I pursued a Bachelor's in Computer Science at UPV, diving deep into algorithms, system architecture, and the fundamentals that make software actually work. Right after graduating, I jumped into an MBA. I realized that building impactful products isn't just about writing clean code, it's about understanding the whole picture. Since then, I've been working professionally across startups and established companies, and I'm still that same person who believes technology should help people.

And somewhere along the way, I got incredibly lucky and married the love of my life. My favourite travel partner, dive buddy, QA Tester, and the person who makes every adventure way better.

Travel, diving, coffee, games, dogs, and a lifetime of curiosity shape who I am as an engineer and as a person. I love building things, exploring new worlds (digital or underwater), and solving problems creatively, preferably with a good espresso nearby.
